Such a Busy Weekend at ClayMotion!

Well, it was a busy week at ClayMotion and Saturday topped it off!

The day was kicked off with the first kids pottery class for the term in the rear studio, and a Make your own Acrylic Pour Painting in the middle studio.

The kids pottery class had a mix of returning and new students and even a couple of mums joined in!

There are a couple of places available in the kids pottery class and mid-term enrolments are welcome; and the next Make your own Acrylic Pour Painting session is on the 16th March. Enrol early to secure your place as these workshops are very popular!

There was just time for quick lunch break before the afternoons program began with kokedama making in the rear studio and an Introduction to Acrylic Pouring workshop in the middle studio. Both of these workshops are very popular and there were some great results.

The next kokedama workshop with vacancies is coming up on the 30th March, and the next Introduction to Acrylic Pouring workshop is on the 16th March. The ‘Introduction’ workshop covers alot more technical information than the ‘Make your own’ workshop, so that you have the knowledge to create your own paintings at home.

What’s on This Week

  • There is more kokedamas coming up for Tuesday, but the workshop is full! Check out the workshop on the 30th March where vacancies are still available.
  • Also on Tuesday is the mum & bubs drop in day. Drop in any time between 10-2pm and have a clay play!
  • Pottery classes are ongoing with mid term enrolments welcome, however there are only paces in the adults Wednesday morning class and the kids Saturday morning class – everything else is full!
  • Introduction to Jewellery making is running this Saturday and there are two vacancies, so enrol now to avoid missing out!

CHILDREN

Childrenโ€™s Loom and Weave Projectย โ€“ recommended age 9-13yrs (this is a guide โ€“ you know your child best)

Tuesday 1st May โ€“ Tuesday 22nd May : 4-5.30pm

During this four week project children will create a loom from clay which will be fired for strength, and painted. Children will then learn to weave the warp threads and then weave their own design on their loom.

This is a great project for children to hone fine motor skills, strengthen mathematical skills, such as counting, measuring and pattern making, and, of course, gets those creative juices flowing.

Week 1 โ€“ children will make their loom from clay, and impress textures and designs on them

Week 2 โ€“ children will paint their loom.

Week 3 โ€“ children will warp their loom. (thread warping skein onto the loom for creating the weave)

Week 4 โ€“ children will complete their weave design, and take their loom home.

Children’s Mosaic Projectย – recommended age 8-13years (this is a guide only โ€“ you know your child best)

During term two children will create a garden paver which will be created from tiles and ceramic shards. The project will run for two classes over a two week period. There is no tile cutting involved.

Week 1 โ€“ create, adhere and mortar paver.

Week 2 โ€“ grout paver, clean and polish

Time: 7th and 14th June 4.00 โ€“ 5.30pm

Pottery in Ballarat – Classes are Underway & Super Busy!

We are half way through the term – where did that go?

It has been very hectic moving into the new studio, and waiting for powercorp to connect the new kiln ๐Ÿ™ so there has been a bit of to-ing and fro-ing to kiln fire works in my home studio – but no breakages, so all is good!!

Mid term enrolments are welcome, and the dates for term 1, 2018 will be up on the website within the next two weeks, so stay tuned.

And remember the ClayMotion shop in Mair Street has some gorgeous handcrafted gifts created by local makers, so keep that in mind for Christmas! And there are art supplies too, for the art lovers in your life.

In the meantime check out these busy pictures from classes so far this term…. happy claying!
